University of Main creates golf ball out of lobster shells

We lived near a golf course when I was a child and we thought it was great fun to catch the balls rolling on the fairway. What we did not know was that golfers hit their balls over the hill and they did not understand everything we slipped their balls. We moved to wade in the water hazards to collect the balls on the bottom of the pond.

If you think about it, there are probably thousands of golf balls under the water of these hazards on golf courses across the country and things are going to be there forever, unless someone digs them. Main University has invented a new biodegradable golf ball, which is the stuff of a lobster cannery to throw away.

The balls are made of shells of lobsters are held together by a binder and a biodegradable coating that is also biodegradable. This means that the ball is in the water for a while just melt a few pieces of lobster shell behind. The bullets are currently in the market for less than $ 1 per ball and material costs about 19 cents per ball. The problem is that the ball does not fly as far as a normal golf ball.
